StewBody Fitness was founded by Head Coach, Harold “Stew” Stewart, as a for-profit Sole Proprietorship intended to combat health disparity. His mission’s to raise awareness regarding the importance of youth education and early-stage, fitness healthcare intervention for those suffering with weight related conditions. Earning acknowledgement through his appointment to the Fort Worth, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Robert Hughes: Naismith Hall-of-Fame, Boy’s Youth Basketball Committee in 2018-2019.
An alumnus of University of North Texas, Men’s Basketball, Coach Stew has provided sports training services to North Crowley, Boys Basketball and the City of Fort Worth, Park & Recreation Department. He also maintains ownership rights for three semi-professional Men’s Basketball franchises, (The UBA’s Texas Icons, The TBA’s Fort Worth Black Dragons and the as of yet un-fielded, ABA’s Fort Worth Energy). Accordingly, StewBody has distinguished itself as a leader in men’s health disparity research and fitness healthcare remediation by creating low-cost fitness health intervention programs including SBF Men’s Boxing, the SBF Men’s Basketball injury recovery team and its newest men’s health program for obesity response; the SBF Weight-loss Crew.
Since the 2015 hire of CEO, Dr. Stewart, PHD she has quickly emerged, as an advocate for collegiate athletes and educators by contributing to non-profit organizations like the Midnight Basketball League (Fort Worth Chapter) and serving as co-chair of the Tarrant County, African American Health Expo (AAHE). Dr. Stewart was instrumental in AAHE’s reorganization into a non-profit entity and has offered guidance as a literacy consultant to the City of Fort Worth & United Way’s, Literacy Cohort.
As director of Stew*Body Media, Dr. Stewart, PHD has generated positive buzz through community work with Fishbowl and Big-Mouth Radio, as well as, her women-in-media, gender equity initiatives. Boasting among its models and women to watch, former SBF Spokes-model Mrs. Tabitha Felton wife of NBAer Raymond Felton, SBF feature model turned entrepreneur and salon owner, Ashley Woodard, SBF Media Intern and educator, Texas A & M University doctoral candidate, Nichole Wilson and Dr. Sandy Hogan, a Baylor University alumna in health administration.
Entering its 6th year of operation, StewBody is a Minority & Woman Owned company to follow! With the advent of its men’s sportswear fashion internship, SBF will undoubtedly continue to enable positive men’s health trends.
